The son of Frederick Wookey J.P. of Leixlip, Co. Dublin, Frederick entered CCB in January 1901 and went on to be a scholar at the Royal College of Science in Dublin.

He is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery, Nord France, Grave 1.22. His inscription reads: "In loving memory."
