George was the son of George M. and Nellie Rogers, of "Dalkeith", Hawthornden Rd., Knock, Belfast. He entered Campbell College in September 1905.
He lived in Courtrai, France, in charge of his father's business (flax trader), when war broke out, somehow managing to get out before the German invasion. When he returned to Belfast, he joined the 13th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles. George is buried at Mill Road Cemetery, Somme France.
