J. H. SINCLAIR PRIVATE, ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS BORN 26TH JULY 1879 - DIED 3RD OCTOBER 1916.
John was the son of William and Anna Jane Sinclair of Roslyn, Lisburn. He served in the South Africa Campaign with Lord Longford's Irish Hunt Contingent. He retired from the army due to an accident and went to Canada. There, he enlisted in the Canadian forces and landed in Ghent.
He was commissioned into the Cameronians for home duty owing to disablement but resigned and enlisted in the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders as a private. He is commemorated Thiepval Memorial, Pier and face 15A - 16C.
