Thomas was the son of Alfred and Annie Frances Greeves, of "Fernbank", Strandtown, Belfast and the brother of OC's 1138 and 1120. He entered Campbell College in 1907, playing for the rugby 1st XV 1911-13 and the cricket 1st XI 1910-12.

Thomas died on the 23rd December 1917, while serving with the 12th Squadron, the 5th Wing of the Royal Naval Air Service. Thomas is buried at Dunkirk Town Cemetery, Nord France.
