Thomas was the son of the Reverend Thomas Haslett of the First Ballymena Presbyterian Church. Thomas joined the British Army as a cadet in June 1915, later gazetted in November 1917, to the 17th Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles.
Thomas was awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry. He is commemorated Cambrai Memorial, Louveral, Panel 10.
