William was born on the 28th July 1879, the son of J. Campbell, Miniaduff of Gorton, county Tyrone. He joined CCB in September 1897 and is recorded to have been in the Rugby 1st XV 1897-1898.
Prior to the war, William had been a Civil Servant in the Factories Dept of the General Post Office. He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium, Panel 113 to 115.
